What I believe in now
is silence and redemption.
The distance of years
between selves
and the gradual healing
of acceptance.
Old conversations
may echo down our lives
and dead versions of love
cling unrecognised,
waiting for
a whisper of footsteps
at midnight
or the taste of perfume
on a new dawn
to offer their snares
of desire and guilt.
But somewhere,
measured in dreams,
there is a point
of no return,
where the possible
approaches inevitability.
There is no time
for regret or hate.
There isn`t time.
So, as I watch
pin-pricks of stars
on a windless night,
with vestiges of memory
caught in the unending
here and now,
I can be who I almost was.
Again.

Agree whole heartedly with Tamara's comments although I must add that this stanza really stood out for me. Great one Val x
