There Is A Reason

There is a reason for everything, my mother kept telling me.
Don't cross that bridge before you reach it.
Don't count your chicks before the eggs are hatched.
I should have listened. I should have hung on to all the superstitions my Irish great grand mother had passed onto me, and not touted my horn and told everyone about my wonderful job at the radio production company.
They called up to tell me they've changed their minds and don't want to employ anyone anymore (i didnt know you could do that!)
and now i'm a little crushed, a little overwhelmed, wondering what to do, how to cope, what's with my luck lately?
At one point I was deliriously happy, got two offers for jobs that I'd dreamt about all my life, this couldn't get any better, but apparently it could get worse.
And it did.
God has a sick sense of humour.
What have I done wrong?
Oh well.
