Things Can Only Get Better

Well, just came back from a refreshing weekend in Cairo where I pretended daddy owned an island, and went around flashing my credit card buying absolutely pointless stuff, just so I could walk around the mall swinging my armfuls of shopping bags and flashing my (fake) designer glasses like a true starlet should.
Paris Hilton aint got nothing on me.
Had the job interview at Mariam and Nancy's place; met scary boss, not so scary boss and definitely not scary other boss, who's weird and has dyed blond hair, is fourty, drinks like a fish and has a penguin tattoo on his butt. I only know this last piece of information because Mariam has a crush on him. With all the above mentioned qualitites, who could resist him?
I think i may have been somewhat neurotic that night, but part of me kept beeping "Are you sure? Are you absolutely sure this is what you want?"
i think i'm a bit scared that having a night job would kill my social life- but then again, given my sucky day job here in alex, i dont have much of one in the first place.
Plus Cairo has a lot of places with sturdy tables to dance on. It's an opportunity i shouldn't miss.
So if you see some chick dancing on a table next time you're out partying, go over and buy her a drink, cause she's probably me.
Gingeresque, professional table dancer. If only it was an honourable profession. *sigh*
when i came back last night, a friend called to say West EL Balad were playing at a club in Agami, so when i phoned my ass-friends to persuade them to come along, naturally no one felt like it or they didnt bother to answer their calls. So we missed out on one hell of a show, or so i heard this morning.
These people are so sucky, and i am really looking forward to leaving them.
At one point in my life i thought they were the coolest most uncomplicated and laid back people- now i realise they're just lazy, unambitious brats.
Because they have everything on their plate, they cant be bothered to work hard for anything.
What kills me is that the lazy fuckers never go out on weekends when i'm around coz they're lazy fuckers, then as soon as I go up to Cairo they manage to organise themselves and party.
So on that line, i'm pretty happy to be leaving them behind. after all, maybe they're much nicer when i only see them on weekends every now and then. Distance makes the heart grow fonder, right?
Part of me wishes i could take Shady with me. i had so many plans for renovating him and making him someone more like me, but with two weeks to go i know that it wont happen.
If only we'd got closer five months ago when this job was slowly beginning to poison me...
OOOh so i'm getting a place of my own soon!
first i spend some weeks with mariam and family, until i find myself a room or a flat to share with someone.
right now i'm getting all giddy and at the thought of decorating and buying my own stuff.
ok.
I want a big white couch. I want a bottle green lamp in the corner. And some ethnic patterned material to hang on the walls. and a bed with huge Finding Nemo cushions. And indian print curtains. And a wall covered with photos of my friends, cartoons and my favorite print ads.
And a bathroom with vanilla candles, quirky photos and a rubber duck. Dont forget the rubber duck.
And a kitchen with a microwave. i have decided i need a microwave. Especially after tasting microwavable pop corn.
Then i can pop corn all day in front of my dvd player. yeah.
My phone would either be super old like in those black-and-white movies, or something wacky like mickey mouse shaped... oh and i'd have an answering machine with a funny song in my message.
And the fridge would be plastered with recipes (unused) and delivery numbers (overused) and my mother's fridge magnets that i love messing around.
Oh and a poster of either bob marley or led zeppelin at the entrance.
Possbily i could get a new cat, to make up for the stonecold heartless, bottomless pit of a bastard known as my current cat, Pussy Boy. Perhaps it's the name that's made him that way.
i bet he gets bullied about it by the street cats all day...
