Last Christmas I gave you my vote
But the very next day you gave my human rights away
This year I’m still full of tears
As I queue for my chlorinated chicken.
Last Christmas I gave you my vote
But the very next day you gave my human rights away
(You gave them away)
This year I’m still full of tears
As I queue for my chlorinated chicken
(Chicken).
Once (twice, thrice...) bitten but still ‘we’ vote Tory
But post-election it’s the same old story
Tell me Johnson, do you recognise me?
It’s been a year, and still nothing for me (or my family, community, country or planet….)
(Happy Christmas)
To ‘Get Brexit Done’ I gave you my vote
But it’s you and your mates who were able to gloat
Now I know what I fool I’ve been
But listening to the news they try to fool me again.
Last Christmas I gave you my vote.
But the very next day you gave my human rights away
(You gave them away)
This year I’m still full of tears
As I queue for my chlorinated chicken
(Chicken).

Oh, oh human rights, workers rights, animal rights …. clearly they mean nothing.
Crowded hospital corridors, poverty, homelessness…
I see you laughing on the benches; such heartlessness
To think I thought you were someone to rely on
Like millions of others I was a voter you stole hope from.
I can’t believe I trusted a man who hid in a fridge
Not even to mention the fiasco with the bridge
Ooh hoo, now I’ve done some research
You’ll never fool me again (too late I know…).
Last Christmas I gave you my vote
But the very next day you gave my human rights away
(You gave them away)

As I queue for my chlorinated chicken

I can’t believe I trusted a man who hid in a fridge
(I gave you my vote)
Not even to mention the fiasco with the bridge
Maybe next time I’ll research a bit more
And vote for social justice
(Justice).
I’ll vote
For the many
Not vote for the few
I’ll vote for social justice.
I’ll vote for a party who’ll give me something in return
(I’ll vote for the many)
Not the ones who trash and burn
(I'll vote for the many)
(I'll vote for the many)
(I'll vote for social justice).
I knew you’d lied
But I gave you a try
I thought you were someone special.
I gave you my vote
(I’m still full of tears)
(I’m still full of tears).
Last Christmas I gave you my vote
But the very next day you gave my human rights away
(I’ll vote for social justice)
