Rain

Noah was out in the fields one day,
When his god spoke to him in a rather strange way.
“I'm fed up with everyone except for you,
So I'm gonna make a flood that's what I'm gonna do”.
Now Noah and his wife had a pet or two,
And liked nothing more than a trip to the zoo.
This gave them a problem they had to face,
Just how to get the animals to somewhere safe?
They scratched their heads for a way out of the fix,
And discounted any number of possible tricks.
The solution seemed to be to build a great big boat,
And to bloody well make sure that it could float.
They worked all day and they worked all night,
To create a vessel to deal with their plight.
Then they packed in some mammals seven by seven,
And waited in the ark off the north coast of Devon.
Now you're wondering why not two by two,
But that's a misconception spread like the flu.
They didn't carry fish as they swam in the sea,
There were a few bugs and beetles and just one flea.
The rain came down and the boat set sail,
Accompanied by some dolphins and a rather lost whale.
There was enough to eat but not much to do,
And quickly the close quarters made everyone blue.
For forty long nights and forty longer days,
No land could be seen wherever one might gaze.
But then came the morn when a dove found some greenery,
And the rest, as we say, is nought but history.
BUT:
Sadly there’s no happy ending to this tale of dare and do,
And the only ones to blame for this are me and you.
Between 1970 and 2014 global wildlife shrank by 60 percent,
In the business of destroying our planet we are absolutely hell bent.
More than 4,000 mammal, bird, fish, reptile and amphibian species lost,
Yet climate change deniers abound despite the fracking cost,
Add increasing weather extremes; heatwaves, winds, and much more rain,
And very soon we’ll need a Noah and an ark again.

A clever and entertaining way
A clever and entertaining way of making the argument that we should do more to save the species and our planet!
