The Boy with Starlings in his Hair
By Glummo
- 715 reads
With his fixed expression and steely glare
The Birdman cometh, the King of scare
He gets home everyday
With a headful of hay
Is he quite all there?
He's the scary boy with starlings in his hair
Each day he awakes, then with a great WHOOSH
Two dozen starlings flee his mighty head bush
They whizz off in a rush
For they fear the hairbrush
So its time for a wee
The Starlings take flight, through the window and FREE!
This gave the boy with the thick, strawy hair
Time to wash and time to prepare
He scratches his stump
Fits his leg, has a dump
Gets dressed, makes his bed
Walks to school with starlings flying all round his head
Starlings are social, they gather in flocks
It was no surprise to find them hiding in his locks
Here the question begs
If they had to lay eggs
Why they had to ensconce
Themselves into his rampantly big hairy bonce
The clue could be found in the starlings themselves
They had grown tired of trees, bushes and shelves
They were sick of cats
And sick of the rats
Sick of taking a beating
So chose a boy with tons of hair, and built in central heating
By day the starlings sought out fruit, bugs and mates
They didn't want socks, lorries, jam or roof slates
Into the air they would zoom
And at night sleep in his room
While he stared up at the moon
And turned his green beadies to slivers of mirrors
So Starlingboy became the town's beardy weirdie
Ignored by all but his lusting neighbour Deirdre
She liked his mirror eyes
She loved his lonely sighs
But she didn't have the words
To tell him how she really felt when all about him were birds
She adored him with all of her body, mind and heart
But he could just take her body, that'd be a start
First she had to get him alone
Away from the birds, on his own
Get those birds out of his head
Then she could start on getting him into bed
But starlings are clever birds, bright with charm
They saw her intentions with a chirrup of alarm
They warbled and trilled
Whistled and shrilled
A warning birdsong rattle
They could see their boy heading to girl and were ready for battle
So the starlings abandoned thier foraging for the day
They weren't ready to let their master make hay
They had to take care
So they stayed in his hair
And were ready to scare
They weren't ready to lose their nest to a hot lady's lair
But the charms of a woman are layered and many
Starlingboy wanted some hot sauce, but hadn't had any
He'd tried girls at school
Tried hard to be cool
But ended a moon-eyed fool
What use were starlings when he can't make girls drool?
Soon he had starling shet all over his clothes
And the girl of his lusts was right under his nose
The birds took the hint-ah
flew south for the winter
So he could quench his fire
Deep in the arms and lips of his neighbour of desire
So the birds have found another head to nest in
Sliver eyed silver boy has a hot girl to invest in
While they nest in the sun
He has hot saucy fun
And their love took wing
In their home and garden, they wait together for spring
