The black mark on the nail of the left first finger will keep
reminding of the polls and the results. A confession with a heavy
heart: 'It is sad to state that in his thickly populated country, we,
the Indians have to give the reins of the country into the hands of
someone who is not at all well conversant with the history of the
country. From among the large count of hundreds and thousands and even
lakhs of eligible Indians there is not a single *Man or Woman* to rule
this country'. The Congress feels that is the truth and the only truth.
Pity huh!
If you tinker the common man of this country, even after the results,
most of them are yet to understand the fact that Congress is not
capable of ruling the country on its own but has to share powers with
the Leftists (Communists who have their strongholds only in the three
states of West Bengal, Kerala and Tripura, clearly pointed in many of
the papers about the misuse of the police force and other diverse and
scientific methods of *making sure* in West Bengal), is a sad state of
affair.
Sonia speaks of poverty. History books tell us about the past in
written text. Till date poverty could not be eradicated. These poverty
stricken people become the target when the elections come. For a small
amount, say a hundred rupees (a dollar or two), a vote can be bought in
the open market from the poor. 'Shit. Shame on those, hang your heads
down, you speak of poverty eradication?' I feel the main problem that
has to be focused at this juncture is - population control, safe
drinking water, health and of course employment for the youth.
Sonia is treading on a path laid with land mines. If by mistake she
places a foot on one of it there's going to a brooooooooom and a baaang
and she loses the glory and the power she is hungry for.
Going hand in hand with the Left is like running an old engine ?
burning up all the fuel, moving slowly and at times there is going to
be major breakdowns. At this juncture the people of this country will
want to move at the rapid progressive pace, rather than succumb to
application of sudden brake and then move in the reverse gear, apply
brakes again, change gears and move forward. The Left Parties are
conservative by nature as you can see in the state of affairs in West
Bengal.
Foreign players have already entered into the Indian market in
different sectors. The Foreign policy has to be handled very carefully
and Sonia with her little knowledge and nil experience of this will
have very little to say. Sonia has been uttering the word 'Secular and
like minded people forming the government'. If secularism is to be
described, a natural born Indian understands more than the person who
is making this hue and cry. Religious differences in this country have
always been the target of the men holding high ranks in the political
arena. It hardly matters to a common man whether his/her neighbour is a
Hindu or a Muslim or a Christian. The common man has very little time
to think after a day's hard work earning some comfort for his family
with his/her hard earned money. His/her main participation in the
electorate is to choose their representatives to the Parliament and
then get lost in the milling crowd. The shouts are heard no more.
Scores of pundits, astrologers, tarot card readers and political gurus
have failed in their counts this time. Hard time is ahead for Sonia if
she can be at the helm of the political affairs of this country. If by
sheer luck she occupies the highest chair of office, she will be a
puppet in the hands of many stalwarts who will pull the strings as and
when they want and she will have to dance to their tune. How
long?
So much is said about the Nehru-Gandhi legacy. You can get an insight
of this Nehru-Gandhi family in the book 'Indira' by Katherine Frank.
Dynasty rule does not exist in India now and to think of a dynastic
rule is like bringing back the thought of the existence of princely
rule in this country, shame on the Congress party who fought for the
abolition of the princely states after independence. Before her entry
into the Gandhi family all that Sonia knew about India was, "I had a
vague idea India existed somewhere in the world with its snakes,
elephants and jungles, but exactly where it was, I was not sure."
Sonia should be thankful to Lady Luck for showering her blessings on
her, for how long, remains an unanswered question. She will have to
leave behind her written speeches once she is ushered in through the
parliament door and be prepared to answer back to the volley of
questions that will be showered on her during the answer session.
It is yet to be seen if the Italian in a Sari can be the next Prime
Minister of India.
(I am uploading this piece with Sonia's fate still lying sealed in the
magic box).
