GOOD Friday.

This morning I went to the doctor’s surgery, to get my cough sorted out. It’s not possible to ring at eight in the morning like they want us to, for if everyone rings at eight in the morning, most will not get through. So, I drove to the doctors, I had wanted to be there first, at seven forty-five, but I had to feed the cats! I could see the time slipping away fast, and usually I love to watch them all eat from their own bowls, in their own places, on the kitchen floor, but this morning I was thinking, hurry up! I’d gotten dressed, quickly as they ate, so I was ready when the last one finished, it’s always Jonathan, he’s the slowest eater.
The time was now seven fifty-five, I still had time to get there before eight. I put the cats outside, there’s always one that don’t want to go out, this morning it was Turmeric, but out he went.
I grabbed my disposable gloves, mask, jacket, handbag and keys, one to get me back into the house and the other key for the car.
I sped off down the road, it wasn’t yet rush hour and the children they are off school, for two weeks, I was informed recently for Easter. I realized that it was now after eight, I wasn’t first, others were there before me and as only two are allowed into the small reception room, keeping two meters apart, I outside was getting closer to the door, it was then I saw it!
I was of course horrified! Truly, on the outer door to the doctor’s surgery was the Easter opening times, it read Friday closed, what? Tomorrow isn’t just Friday; it is Good Friday! How dare they remove the word Good. It is Good Friday for a reason, because of what happened almost two thousand years ago. Jesus died on the Cross, and on Easter Sunday, He rose again from the dead. Simple.
I studied the book of Luke in the Bible at school, so when it comes to reading the Easter Story, I always go to Luke first. My cousin who went to a grammar school he studied all the four Gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, for his exam, that must have been SO hard, but he passed, just like I did.
It's sad now, that Good has been removed from most calendars and diaries, and to be honest, it has been happening gradually, under our noses, over the years, until now on my doctor’s sign on their door, it’s just Friday. God help us.
You see, with the Good Friday, it gives children and others who don’t know what Good Friday means, they can ask and learn.
In most parts of the world, traditions stay, especially when it is to do with their religion, nothing ever changers, but here in England, they don’t seem to value their own traditions, and in time, there will be nothing left, religion or anything else.
Happy Easter.
Good Friday.

It didn't seem 'good' at the time, but they realised later! I'm glad you put 'AD' in the date, 'the year of our Lord'. Rhiannon
