Derranged Marriage

She didn't know it, nor did she care
Why her loved ones pulled her hair
She didn't feel it
The love that she should
All she felt was her head in the hood.
Beaten, bleeding, twisted and broken
Her own family had done this, for honour was spoken
Now she was travelling in the boot of a car
Where was she going. It was certainly far.
Then the car stopped, suddenly jolting
Men spoke quietly and then the boot was open
She was grabbed and lifted, out of the boot
Dragged over grass and thick roots
Eventually they stopped, and threw over the rope
Tied it to the trunk and pulled on the noose
The hood never came off, they couldn't look at her face
They just slipped over the rope and stood her in place
Angry words were said in the dark
She called for help but they said she was daft.
They kicked out the chair and she bounced on the noose
Her neck broke immediately because the rope was so loose
They bundled her up and buried her there
Honour reclaimed at the expense of care.
