Robin
I rescued a little Robin
Bertie I did name
He couldn’t fly he couldn’t walk
But I loved him just the same
And when it got to Christmas Eve
He perched upon a log
He sang and chirped till Christmas Day
Then got eaten by the dog.
I rescued another Robin
Percy I did name
He couldn’t fly just hopped along
Was always bursting into song
And then on New Year Eve
By the fire where he sat
He sung just once too often
And was eaten by the cat.
So
When I Found another Robin
Alfred I did name
He could fly he could sing
He was a bonny little thing
I didn’t let the cat get him
I shut out our pet dog
And happy as a lark in spring
He sat upon the log
I fed him pies and truffle cake
Brandy and port wine
He gobbled all I offered him
And still he sang just fine
But then he swayed and toppled off
It really was a shame
He sang no more
Whilst on the floor
And then burst into flames.

Sad story that made me laugh.
Sad story that made me laugh. My only advice would be to stop 'rescuing' wildlife.
