The Blue Cage Boys

Billy's in the 'Bull-Ring'
Half way through the slog
Left a nasty present for the bosses
In the bog
Here comes the supervisor dressed up
In his shirt and tie, quipping
"Sling another sack in the blue cage, boys,
Sling another grey sack in the cage."
One armed Pete's a worker
He does twice his share
They call him The Bandit
But he don't seem to care
And it's head down and
Don't ask the time or it'll never go...
And it's
"Sling another sack in the blue cage, boys,
Sling another grey sack in the cage."
Old timer's back in Depot
Unloading off the van
There's been a few breakages
You pick up what you can
A whiff of whisky on his lips
And a wink at the driver man and it's
"Sling another sack in the blue cage, boys,
Sling another grey sack in the cage."
Where's all this junk-mail going?
Straight in someone's bin
Where did all my dreams end up?
He says with a fallen grin
And I wonder if my girl's gone out?
I asked her to stay in and it's
"Sling another sack in the blue cage, boys,
Sling another grey sack in the cage."
I came here straight from school
Somehow I got stuck
Learnt to carry my own weight in mail
But with a bit of luck
I'll get on the forklifts
And then someday on the trucks
Until then it's
"Sling another sack in the blue cage, boys,
Sling another grey sack in the cage."
Little Jimmy likes the horses
Down at Epsom way
Put his months wages on a nag to win each way
But he drank himself to blackout
Wasn;t to be his day and now on the nightshift:
"Sling another sack in the blue cage, boys,
Sling another grey sack in the cage."
I'm a casual, got no label
Can't give me no code
Sling me with the 'Missorts'
Got no fixed abode
I'll be off in a few months
Somewhere down the road,
Until then
"Sling another sack in the blue cage, boy,
Sling another grey sack in the cage."
I can see the sun up through the door
Smell the abattoir
Hear the birds a-singing
And you know it isn't far
Waiting for the signal
And we'll be heading for the door
Until then it's
"Sling another sack in the blue cage, boys,
Sling another grey sack in the cage."
