I Don't Know Where I'm Going

I don't know where I'm going.
I put on that I'm navigating by the
stars, or beacons or album reviews.
Branches pointing one way and
Leaves falling in another.
I make out like I'm following something
But I don't know where I'm going.
I don't know where I'm going,
The postmarks of old postcards at the
Bottom of my drawer.
A colour gloss picture of a ruined abbey on a hill...
The footprints of pigeons made in mud
on my window sill.
I study these things like I'm studying maps
But I don;t know where I'm going.
I don't know where I'm going,
Iggy Pop, David Bowie and Lou Reed too,
Overheard from an Ipod coming out of Waterloo
A big girl in black with her cheeks red
With tears, her beautiful blonde friend asleep
On her shoulder, they both alight at Cobham
and disappear into darkness.
I don't know where I'm going.
