Sorrow Is A Friend Of Mine

I wake up every morning
And I find
Sorrow is a good good friend of mine
He follows me around all the time
Sorrow is a friend of mine
I open up my eyes
He's sitting in that chair
Cutting his nails and combing
His hair
He gives a knowing smile
And says: "What did you think,
I'd walk out on you? Come on
Let's grab ourselves a drink."
He follows me to parties
Always at my side
I make a joke and the conversation dies
He says: "We don't need this crowd
Let's get out of here and go get ourselves
Another beer..."
And I was late to work again
He got me the sack
Now its me, him, these four walls
It's looking black
I can't find anything that shines
Sorrow is a good good friend of mine
He grabs the paper
Always points out the bad news
"Whichever way you look at this world you lose!"
I'm looking for a way out I can't find
Sorrow is still a friend of mine
I guess he moved in
The day that you walked out the door
Cut himself a key started crashing on the floor
I've asked him to leave
But he seems resigned, to sticking around
Sorrow is still a friend of mine
I've changed the locks
Get him evicted
But he knows where I live
