Diamond Jubilee

An old movie of sixty years ago
Has a monarch bedecked in diamonds
Wearing that famous crown.
A young Prince Charles plays,
Hiding beneath the train,
While jewels glitter in camera's light,
Spinkling, twarkling, 'tis a delight.
Today, after six decades
Of a glorious reign,
A flotilla of boats
Will be a pageant of celebration.
The Queen's boat in red and gold,
Remembrance of times gone by, times of old.
When a young Henry the Eighth
Took to the Thames
To sail to fair Hampton.
And now in glittering ballrooms of Buckingham Palace
Champagne glasses will be clinked,
As country and royalty are now linked
In union for a right royal do,
Salute the Queen and remember too,
This is the Diamond Jubilee,
A very special anniversary!
