Touch

Silent fingertips running up my arms and down my body as he pulls me closer in. Feeling the weight of his hand rest just above my hip. The music is loud, but my hand brushing his cheek is louder. I feel little prickles like porcupines all along his jaw. Swaying to the music, neither of us with rhythm, my hand falls to his chest. The warmth startles me, but floods me with happiness because I’ve been shivering all night, I wonder if he felt the goosebumps I’ve been trying to shake off. His hand reaches up and interrupts my thoughts. It’s rough against my face, but his touch is gentle. I can tell he’s nervous because of the bounce of his fingers upon my cheek. As the song ends he wraps me in a cocoon of arms. His warmth beats out the cold in me.
