I got tired
of looking
out the
window
for scenes
that are no
longer there
so I cut out
the glass
that held
so many
memories
and tucked it
away
it lay there
under the sofa
memories at rest
but it wasn't
long before
it began to
rattle the
furniture
the room soon
filled
with the sun
of a not so
long ago
past
the sort of past
one likes to
dwell on
when the
world seems
right again
I place the
glass back
in its
frame
and wait to see
what sort
of memories it
holds in store
for me

The glass as a live screen
The glass as a live screen and memory window. Marvellous idea bursting with celebration. Tone is gentle with a streak of serenity running through it. I like the joggle of the glass - objecting to its place under the sofa and the narrator reinstating it back to its rightful place where it will give memories to all who dare to look through it.

I really like the short lines
I really like the short lines, think they reflect well to the content; heartbreaking yet strong.

And there's you trying to convince people that you're a story writer and not a poet you old devil :-)
