Because you could not be here
I waited till you could speak
I rang you from the street
And told you of
The square
The shops
The cars driving past
The people
The colours, sound and motions
The war memorial
Because you could not be here
I wanted to tell you
What this place was like
And give you a picture
Of what I could see
For you to remember
A souvinir of my experience
For you to share
Because you could not be here
