CARE HOME LADY

Mary, Mary, sit and dream,
Wrapped loosely in your shawl of green;
One window is your summer sky -
So lonely live and quiet die.
Eyes of blue, once flower-bright
When your long hair shone like the sun;
But now it's turned to snowy white,
Like bitter rain your tears become.
Sweet smiling like a little girl,
You wear a gold ring on your hand;
For though your love is dead and gone,
You feel him still beside you stand.
You never walk and cannot run
But drop the tears as memories come;
You do not hope when life's passed by,
But lonely live and quiet die.
Mary, Mary, sit and sigh;
Long endless hours to wonder why;
Your life is written in your face,
And mirrored in this final place.
Mary, watch the shadows fall -
They're only patterns on your wall ......
How young, tomorrow, your soul will fly -
So lonely live and quiet die;
So lonely live,
And so quiet, die.
