SONG OF GAIA
By Indrani Ananda
- 461 reads
Will the world be forever blue?
Ask the children of the Earth
As they waste the trees in the forest,
As they cast their poison in the sea;
As they part the clouds with their evil bombs
In their struggle to be 'free' ....
Now the Earth is dying in their shadow,
And it breaks my heart to see;
Oh will there ever be a peaceful Earth
In all the years to be?
*
It took ten thousand years to cross the ocean,
It took a million years to reach the moon;
But it would only take one moment's folly
To wipe away this living Earth so soon.
Only mankind with such greed in its heart
Could care so little for this land;
Only an Angel with a tear in his eye
Would sing a requiem for Man .....
Oh will there ever be a peaceful Earth
In all this time of mine?
*
Not in all the years that ever will be,
Or in the time of Man.
