STARLIGHT STRANGER

Starlight Stranger sifting sands,
Letting my life slip through your hands;
It was beyond the ancient dark
I wrote my name upon your heart.
Crystal tossed with teeming pearls
Through blue-sky windows of the worlds;
You will find, if love must die,
No-one lonelier than I.
Starlight Stranger, do you hear
Every sigh with every tear?
Only centuries divide
The shadows from the other side.
Starlight Voyager of a dream,
Are you youthful as you seem?
In your smile is wisdom true
As the planet Earth is blue?
Words are silver, silence gold;
Tears are bitter, time is old;
Forgotten lives in sleep are laid -
You loved me when the world was made .......
Dawn remembers in the East -
Take me to our wedding feast;
I will rend my bridal veil
If our ship should need a sail.
Starlight Stranger gone so soon,
Riding a rainbow round the moon;
Where is that time-honoured Love
You wrote upon the sky above?
Starlight Voyager, you will find
I walk the deserts of your mind -
On every Earth in every sky
There is none lonelier than I ........
No-one lonelier than I.
