- - - She came to me quietly, like sunlight on sand;
- - - With her hair bound in silver, and a world in her hand.
- - - She said her name was Zarnia, star-wise to look upon;
- - - She loved me for a hundred years in the space of an evening gone.
"The bow of the Earth is blue," she said,
"And swiftly my arrow-ship flies,
And I have come for you," she said,
"Man with the earth-blue eyes."
"The scythe of the moon is gold," she said,
"And I am so lonely there -
I live in a fantasy world," she said,
"Man with the moon-gold hair."
- - - Farewell moonlight on the water, farewell sky of golden light;
- - - I dreamed of the Elfin Lord's daughter; she came to me tonight.
"The light of the stars is pale," she said,
"My ship is a dream within;
And you and I will sail," she said,
"Man with the star-pale skin."
"The name I am called is Zarnia," she said,
"Star-wise to look upon,"
She loved me for a hundred years
In the space of an evening gone.
- - - Farewell moonlight on the water, farewell sky of golden light;
- - - I dreamed of the Elfin Lord's daughter; she came to me tonight.
- - - It's not farewell to you, my love - but only is Goodnight ......
- - - It cannot be farewell to you, my love, it is Goodnight.
