The Girl in the Red Scarf

Innocent. That was the only word do describe the tiny child that sat on a bench looking out over the water. Her large rounded green eyes seemed to sparkle and her curly brown hair framed her heart shaped face. She was short for a ten year old but she didn't seem to notice all too much. Her legs however could not reach the ground and they swung back and forth to a beat unknown to the rest of the world. She wore all black from head to toe, a little black beret and then a vibrant red scarf that wrapped tightly around her neck.
It was the middle of winter, yet snow had refrained from falling. People walked by the child paying no attention to the fact that she was alone. She watched each of them as they passed. Her rounded eyes following them until the next passerby came near. It soon became a game to the girl. Inside her mind she began to create stories about the people, each one becoming more fantastic than the other. One was of a lady who was wearing a scarf and sunglasses. The child began to believe she was a spy on a secret mission. Then there was a man with a broken pair of glasses who frequently looked around him. The man had a terrible secret and it was the fact that he was a superhero that could fly. Her imagination grew wild for the longest time until finally she heard the sound of her mother's voice calling for her. She hopped down from the bench and skipped towards her mother, a smile on her face at how brilliant her stories were.
Yet behind her, the woman with the sunglasses suddenly entered a key into a tree and slid into a door that had appeared in the bark. The man with the broken glasses suddenly removed them along with his business shirt to reveal a latex suit. With a sudden burst of energy, he kicked off the ground and flew into the air. And from above, the girl with the red scarf could be seen, oblivious to everything.
