The Promise
A great blue moon tonight,
a sky shimmering
like dolphins in phosphorescence
behind feminine palms,
moving like girls
coming into their own.
An inquiring ocean
stopped at landfall
to see what we were doing,
and drop water-crafted seagifts
for passers-by.
The sand turned dark
with the waters rush,
but glistened
with a nervous spasm
of crabs.
Then the great blue moon
coupled with the horizon,
leaving the promise of return
from that farthest sky.
