Funny Bones

HEee HAHAHA
Her gale of laughter climbed melodic scales,
An uncontrollable howling coming in nauseous waves of force and splendour
Slowly falling under her control until the hilarity sparked once more in her mind- gripping her ribs and shaking her whole in a soundless kind of strain that forced tears from her eyes.
Oh what endless joy it was, the skin of her teeth turning dry from her smile exposed to the fresh air. Unable to get over herself, she nodded along with the impatience of her companions, trying to excuse her nutty outburst of bleating, rib-bruising mirth. A wet cough returned her to reality- she hastily wiped her eye, smudging her carefully applied eyeliner, and once again she found herself sober.
And after all that she couldn’t explain what she found so funny, the situation, the expression, the timing, all began to fade as a dream does once you wake up. Looking back it all seemed like a fumbled and feral reaction, that in a strong sort of jab, a particularly sharp finger had pin pointed a bone by the name of ‘funny’.
