B - Lay me bare

"I can't have her and she won't have me,"
said the earth to the sky of the sea
Howled the sky in reply:
"I've an apple in the soil at my feet
a sun just out of reach."
Said the poem:
I'll strip me down to the bare, bare bone
I'll skin away the layers with a reasonskean
I'll chip and chisel, I'll whittle away
to witness what tendons pull within
Now
What I but crag and tor?
What I but ragged shore
who mouths of waves are slowly swallowing?
What I but sagging jaw
when in my dregs I find me wallowing?
O lay me bare, lay me bare!
Yes lay with me I lay me bare
Still it isn't all there - what piece?
Carve out my chaos and pluck at my litter
Define, define and grant me release
I shall ask, I shall ask
but no it never comes never
No matter no matter how one might endeavour
Said the vein:
Lay me bare with your fingernails
I want to open out like a funnel
Pour your waste right in
I have coloured myself for you
Oh I have exposed myself for you
Now
What I but tattered sail?
What I but musty veil
who hands of light are softly tearing?
What I but deathly wail
when through my trenches tread despairing?
O lay me bare, lay me bare!
Said the man:
Yes lay me bare I dig me deep
I wanna lay me now bare or is lost
is aware? Why many a time I've been possessed
by a part of me who I hated best
But I will lovingly erode for you
Exact me!
Exact me!
Exact me!
