THE MERMAID PRINCESS

A little Princess often liked riding her little pony down on the beach. She and her little horse adored the ocean and the sea. They loved the waves crashing on the rocks and rolling out onto the beach. They both secretly wished to belong to the mighty waters forever. So, one day, as they were galloping along next to the coastline and the sea, the Princess said to her little pony, ‘I wished that I could live in the sea forever. I would ride the waves and the tide as a Princess, not of the King’s crown, but of the mighty ocean itself. I would be forever free in the rolling waves and the mighty wind.’ ‘So do I,’ replied her little mate, ‘I would be a horse of the sea and not the land. I would learn to master the currents and be free from all the bondage of the earth in the sea's mighty arms and grasp.’ Just then the God of the Sea himself rose out of the mighty waters of the ocean and Neptune said to them both, ‘Your wishes are granted, because you have wished to your heart's desire in all honesty. You little Princess will be a maiden not of the land, but of the glorious sea itself.’ and she instantly became a mermaid with the strong and agile tail of a fish. She swam away into the sea and was the first mermaid to be born to the ocean. The little horse transformed itself magically in the blink of an eye into a beautiful little seahorse and swam away behind his mistress, the maiden of the sea, into the depths of the mighty ocean itself. And that is the story of how the first Mermaid and the first Seahorse came into the vast and tumultuous water of the Atlantic Ocean. And Neptune was pleased, and the God Of Sea followed them down into the deep waters of the sea to the shores of Atlantis himself. Sometimes wishes do come true.
