A Calm

In the loam, leering in the peat-bogs
north, purple gloaming with the deep
blue of twilight, as the mist dissipates,
settles into sequinned night, conifers
still in the windless valley, eagles sleep.
*
At sea, waterproofed fishermen come in
from the now-ceased rain, put on the kettle
and dry off soaked feet, mountains silhouetting
them, silvered by the moon, curved like a scythe,
but benign, harmless as the calm sea laps.
*
The distraught northern world turns to night
and starts again as rest recuperates, bringing
relief to nature, as it breathes in a gentler
wind, time slowing to take in the moment,
as an owl hoots his gratitude in peace.

I enjoyed the pictures drawn
I enjoyed the pictures drawn too, and the emphasis on the blessing of the recuperation in the slower, gentler pace of night. Rhiannon
