My Generation

Stained, elated, we face the future
erected for us from fibreglass
and high-speed connections, world
shrunk to the size of a golf ball
smote from point of origin
lashed from this world too small
to hold us, brokered by bankers
buying and selling our futures.
Between us lies the truth
which we will never find
a bitter pill taken in the 90's
layered between futile thought
held by security for fear of suicide
bomber attack from kids who've
had enough, who lost their way
decades ago, and tread back slowly,
hungover and shell-shocked,
into the glittering digital night.

I read this with interest
I read this with interest for the younger generation. Seemed quite dark prospects. I hope you don't really feel like that- not too often.

There's a lot going on here
There's a lot going on here and I like the poem. Perhaps a little too broad a brush stroke for two stanzas? I think that the theme deserves more words in terms of expanding the ideas and consciousness. I don't mean being more 'wordy' I mean giving space for these wonderful thoughts and ideas that you are creating. Just my silly ideas of course!

I agree there is a lot here to explore. Am off to part 2 now. I like the feel of the writing.
