A New King To Rule Them All

I came to conquer, and I conquered all,
Took the crown I’d wanted all along,
Put it on and danced into town,
My extensive family all around me.
*
I looked in the mirror and found a dunce’s cap
Sitting where my bejewelled crown should sit,
And asked myself “What’s goin’ on?”
My wife told me it was a perfect fit.
*
Outraged I called her a dog and ran,
Out into the street, where I met Hillary,
She asked “How do, Donald?” and I swore at her,
And kept running for the nearest bar.
*
The locals were not impressed.
The cap was a perfect fit,
But evidently not the kind expected, not iconic,
Instead of jewels this conical paper thing.
*
I asked myself what this could all mean,
And simply came up with the conclusion
That my nation had conned me,
And crowned me for my stupidity
*
A dead albatross around my neck.
