No Man's Land

Enter the wilderness, keep all feelings
safe from harm, disarm the core,
guilt stripped to its basics, sound
laid down into silence, connect with
inner peace, nothing as good as this.
Beyond, world hurtles through chaos
daily life tortuous and utterly unforgiving,
escalators repeatedly offloading polished
executives, fresh with each new day,
inwardly raging at stolen moments, delays.
As the cars stack up at traffic lights,
skeletal pale faces stare at communicators
looking for an answer, a key to unlock
the mental maze, beehives of activity
exacerbated by their employers' greed.
Your thoughts vaguely reflect this malais
as you lie entranced by newly-discovered
self, held above this tortured planet
just for a moment, in the wilderness,
safe from harm, connect with bliss.

Sometimes the world does feel like this James. Good poem.
