I WAS THERE. (I.P.) 01-03-2013

I was there late in the night
When Eastleigh stayed up late.
They waited patiently, with bated breath,
So they could know their fate.

Returning Officer came into view
A paper rustling in his hand.
The hall was hushed, expectant now
Eastleigh has the eyes of the land.

Then came the news, Lib-Dems had won!
The cheers rang out a victory roar.
Then when it faded quiet reigned
And tears came splattering the floor.

Blues and Labour shocked, red-eyed
Retired, and in a huddle.
Made up their minds in different ways.
Their parties are all in a muddle!

So it passed into history,
The future will reveal it all.
The certainty is there to see.
How the high and mighty fall.
