A MOUSE WITH NO HOME.

I am a mouse with no home, no one to care for me or love me, just an ordinary mouse, nothing special at all. I once had a home a small hole in a wall which suited me, but one day a group of feral cats moved into the neighbourhood. I took fright as cats are not known to like mice! I found myself on the street looking for somewhere to live but there was nothing, food was a probleme too. In the summer fast food places had tables and chairs outside, people, especially children tend to drop their food and I could always find something to eat. It is amazing just how one chip can make a satisfying meal when you are my size!
Winter came early, wind and rain and the promise of snow. Despite my constant searching I could not find a home. I was wet, cold and desperate when suddenly, as sometimes happens, my luck changed. At the end of a row of shops there was a small car park with thick bushes up against a wall, and behind these bushes, at the base of the wall was a small hole, a beautiful, suitable home!
Now for food! I scuttled along looking for a suitable food supply. There was an icecream shop, not really, as by the time it hit the pavement it had melted. A restaurant with outside tables was a possibility but then I found it, a chinese restaurant with a take away window. Perfect, my spirits rose, a home and a food supply, but luck hadn't finished with me yet.
Tummy full of grains of rice and a small piece of cheese found under a chair, I headed happily for home, but when I got to the car park I found my new home blocked by a small van with its doors open. I was scared of passing under the wheels of the van to get to the wall in case it drove off. I hid under the bushes and waited, after all I was in no hurry! The driver came back, slammed the doors closed and drove away.I came out of my hiding place and saw a small packet on the ground, it must have fallen from the van. There was no possible chance of giving the packet back so I dragged it home and opened it. To my great delight I found a red and white scarf, a pair of mittens and a small soft blanket. I sat on the blanket, wrapped the scarf around my neck and put the mittens on my front paws. I was going to be warm all through the winter, I had a new home and a food supply, my luck had really changed!!

Made me me think of the "Borrowers"
Made me me think of the "Borrowers" I think it was, I read as a child and really enjoyed, and of course "Pinky and the Brain" and 'Tom and Jerry".
This was good, cheerful little story, very original I would say.
Keep wel!! Tom
