Ode to an election.

The colours of our politics
blue, orange and then red,
when mixed about and shuffled,
produce the one word -ROB!

Now there's a word to conjure with,
like VAT and TAX,
it means to take, with violence,
and then give nothing back.

But now that change is in the air,
the competition's rude,
it's cut and thrust with highs and lows,
and some of it is crude.

What everybody wants to know,
but nobody will show,
is what's the size of the National Debt?
Perhaps they just don't know!!

For education, health care both
are sliding into ruin,
but that's alright because we've spent
a fortune, but in vain.

A myriad of problems rest,
unsolved and getting worse,
but Government majestically,
has emptied out the purse.

Thus, May the 6th, the day of change
can it put matters right?
Who knows, it might well happen
they may well see the light.
