WHEN MEN WERE MEN AND DONKEYS WORE STRAW HATS.

In years gone by, before the screens
Kids played outside, come rain or shine.
They climbed up trees and rode their bikes.
Were healthy, fit and fine!
Then came the screens, in all their forms,
And kids just stayed indoors.
They played no games or read a book.
Knew nothing, grew up bores.
With all the screens and mobile phones
Kids lost their innocence.
Without a screen to lead them on
Things were a bore and made no sense.
Facebook, Twitter fill their days
They keep their phones or I-pads near.
They never speak without a call,
And check the screen if it is clear.
If woe befall, the screen won't work,
Disaster lasts all day.
Propose a book to pass the time.
Reply is fast "No Way".
Obesity is much in vogue these days
And caused by serious lack of play.
Not play on screens but play outside
Which changes what you weigh!
So let us have a no screen time
In schools, at home, all day.
Using books and brain cells too,
I'm sure that day will pay.
In case you think I'm just too old
Beware.I have got screens as well.
But because I like to write a lot
The screens stay blank, but it's not hell!
So youngsters all, get out and play
Fall over, skin your knees.
The world continues without screens
And you will find the birds and bees.
