Foot and Hand

With fear in one foot
And excitement in the other
We step forward,
With doubt in one hand
And certainty in the other,
Crushing flowers with one
Flowers bloom in the other,
Gloves sometimes are worn
And other times scratches and scaring occur.
Frozen still, like the foot of a statue,
Running so hard that you almost fly,
Sometimes so alive
And sometimes ready to die,
With fear in one foot and excitement in the other
We step forward.
