Fix Me (09/03/2018)
I have come as a sceptic,
A long-term non-believer,
I have always dismissed this,
An unwilling receiver;
I have come under duress,
At the end of my tether,
Reluctance and stubbornness,
Bound too closely together.
Can I trust you to fix me?
I have come despite knowing
I find it hard to admit,
That I’m no longer coping,
I’ve got too much to unpick;
I have come to the last ditch,
I need the tables to turn,
My head like a touch-paper,
I’m all too ready to burn.
Can I ask you to fix me?
I have come on insistence
Of people claiming to care,
Are those lies that they tell me,
For there is no love lost there?
I have come as a number,
With very limited time,
Just six sessions of small talk
Supposed to make it all fine.
Can I push you to fix me?
I have come to seek solace,
To rid myself of this pain,
I have too much I’m losing,
And nothing new left to gain;
I’ve come carrying this weight
Forever pushing me down,
I’ve been taking on water,
I’m nearly ready to drown.
But what if you can’t fix me?
