Dead Lines
Deadlines,
Jennifer's Dead Lines
That she drew across Time,
Planning out, mapping out
Her life -
What she'd do,
And where and when and how -
She kept it to herself,
Locked away inside her mind,
Her Masterplan,
While Fate laughed,
Laughed so hard she cried,
Laughed until the tears ran down her face, down her body, wet her
sides,
Laughed until the salt dried.
Time ran by,
Faster than a hurricane,
And age,
Reflected by the mirror,
Grew across Jennifer's face.
She saw what she chose to see -
Since when were our own reflections an echo of reality?
We rarely see what others see.
And the Dead Lines crept,
And the Deadlines came and went,
The wheres, the whens, the hows
All twisted, broken, bent -
Tomorrows become todays
And are quickly spent.
