Process: Writing (8th May 2008, 1.55pm)

The next day, a repetition; the same late hour
Finds me blinking into the light from the screen
As if no time has passed, as if I’d never slept at all
Wondering how to undo and remake the jigsaw
How to spill words from brain to lips to document
And pin them all in their intended places
Something lost in the translation, things unmeant
If only I could plug the machine into my mind
Then free-flow would come, floods rushing
Everything made easier, wordings ready-finished
Time spent well, no wasted hours lost trying to be
Faster than a bantered conversation, me
The writer torturing my keyboard, click, click, rearrange
