Silver, molten, mercury
Silver, molten, mercury
Fascinated, I watch the words seep from your mouth
Liquid metal in which I'm prepared to drown
Heavy, like curdled blood from broken heart
Eyes to the snake now, tear me apart
You know how it hurts me
Like swallowing broken glass
Like breathing in with broken ribs
Like&;#8230;a piece of broken past
To speak now, to release tongue from long-hold
And cast a shadow in my summer&;#8230;
Could you not leave the year alone?
Let it be whole in its silence
I had ceased to need you, ceased to wonder, ceased to long
for&;#8230;
Silver, molten, mercury
I watch the patterns fall.
