Tiredness (A Sonnet of Sorts!)

This morning, I could not get out of bed –
More ‘waking the dead’ than just ‘sleepy head’!
The dog was snuggled close in by my side,
I could not get my eyes to open wide.
I’d slept with curtains open in the hope,
The sun would wake me with its morning scope.
But after six alarms, and lack of dark,
I could not stir until the dog did bark!
Dragged my tired carcass to the shower –
Could have stood there more than half an hour!
I did not want to work, I’m confessing,
But, once there, it was far less depressing!
The thought of doing something’s always worse
Than execution. (And resulting verse!)

! An Itallian sonnet, lighthearted yet so so true !

"The thought of doing something’s always worse, than execution", don't torture yourself, what's done is done.

It's not quite an Italian sonnet either! I've just done rhyming couplets as that is how the poem came to me, but it felt like a sonnet with the 10 syllables and the length it was going to be, so I went with it.

But poets are allowed to invent new forms of poetry, and even new words, aren't we?!

I think I'll call it the 'Jennifearean Sonnet'!

Luckily, I did get out of bed, and it did get done!
