Underneath
Underneath this quiet moment
My heart beats loud and urgent
But I've no wish to hasten -
Come, let us dwell on this,
Let us not rush, let us spend an eternity,
Use touch, and smell and taste,
Listen to me breathe,
Let your fingers trace
My skin,
Warm and quiet, explorers
Charting new territory
Where few travellers have been before,
Let your tongue slide where it likes -
I will not fight its
Warm and soft caress,
Let go
Of all but your senses
And I will reciprocate,
Lose myself in my senses too,
Filling every pore with nothing else but you,
You and your skin, your warmth, your smell,
The sound of your breath,
I will explore
Until I know you well.
Underneath this moment,
Quiet questions swell
But I will forget them,
Let my heartbeat drown the sound
And listen not to the doubting voices,
Angels on my shoulder
Telling me
No.
