You May Not Live To Ninety-Two

You won’t have all the time you need,
It’ll pass too fast, at too great speed,
Some of your dreams you won’t achieve,
Your luck at times you won’t believe.
Your answers will come far too late,
You’ll fail to force the hand of Fate,
The happiness you seek will hide,
You’ll fall over your wounded pride.
Hindsight will not be a blessing,
Some lovers not worth undressing,
You won’t like truth more than all lies,
Some friends will be foes in disguise.
You’ll waste love and you’ll have regrets,
You’ll hurt people and spill secrets,
You’ll get betrayed and taken down,
In grief and sorrow you may drown.
You won’t fulfil your childhood hope,
Your youth will find its hanging rope,
Life won’t match the picture you drew,
You’ll wish the road was one you knew.
Make the most of the time you’ve got,
For God knows it won’t seem a lot,
You might not live to ninety-two,
Only the lucky of us do.
For my Great Uncle Des, who did.

Hi Jennifer, it's good to
Hi Jennifer, it's good to hear from you again.
seems such a long time ago when I saw you at your book signing.
Your words are so true, especially that last stanza.
Thank you for sharing.
