Hodges Dilemma

Okay as a ghost he realised his choices were limited. She couldn't see him touch him or really communicate with him at all what kind of basis for a relationship was that?
Relationship?! what was he thinking, he was getting carried away, so he had left a rose etched into her steamed up shower mirror and restocked her cupboard with dog food as she slept he didnt think this quite constituted a relationship, definitely in no way for her anyway.
To see her smile again in reaction to something he had done, That would be enough. He stepped through the dark arch into her narrow hallway, he could hear her drumming on her laptop downstairs, he crept into her bedroom glancing first at her calender as was customary for him, feeling his anxiety slowly ease as he noted the date. It had been two days since the rose incident, not the months it had felt like as he waited to return to see her again.
Her room over looked the beautiful hillside, which still made him ache with its beauty even under todays thick cloud. He could make her bed? no he didnt want her to think of him as some sort of house work elf that shopped and cleaned for her, what did he want her to think? Hodge knew the answer to this but couldnt even think it to himself. Maybe the never having lived at all was better than trying to achieve something ridiculous maybe he should just return through the arch and get on with his actual job, Harry couldnt cover forever, he was the keeper of the doorways of the afterlife he had responsibilties . Downstairs he heard her get up and head towards the stairs he froze anticipation and an unexplained terror welling up within him, he listened intently as she climbed the stairs, he thought to himself he had never experienced such strong emotions in his whole exsistance, if even the anticipation of seeing her walk into this room filled him with dizzying waves of emotion maybe it was worth it...or maybe he was so pathethtic.
