pack my bags resign from my job and say goodbye to my HSBC account to the Standard to my Nectar card my Oyster card my Unlimited card and say goodbye to Greek drama at the Old Vic and the Almeida whose merits we debated on WhatsApp to Cable Street and the dealers in the tenements to the aluminium angel in Piccadilly say goodbye to Wetherspoons to Carlings to Mourinho to the BBC bid farewell to the rain even in the summer and humming your way to work past the barred kebab shops
to the landlord who turns off the heater after 9pm and having sex wrapped up in a North Face coat say goodbye to the bankers in Canary Wharf the hipsters in Hoxton the Rastas in Brixton the poets in Farringdon the gamers in West Hampstead the students in Old Street the kids in Acton the skaters in Embankment the guides at Westminster the pensioners in Woodford
say goodbye to Heathrow and Stansted and City say goodbye to the Thames to St Paul's as it blushes in the morning to the Gherkin and Grater glittering seen from the platform at Shadwell to that mysterious woman's house in Richmond to the dark dubstep clubs in Shoreditch to the Shard and the Emirates say goodbye
to Hyde Park and Hammersmith wave through the glass to the boxers hitting the sack on the corner off Watney Market bid a special farewell to English it'll no longer be the language of the street figure out a way to pack all of these books into two suitcases and find some goddamn words to tell my friends I'll miss them more than I miss the sea that I used to sail on say one last goodbye and go home
wherever home is, I only know it's not here
