She entered my life like a cold lamb sandwich
Looking good but disappointing once tasted,
The blonde streaked hair, straight from the bottle
Blue contact lenses to hide those grey eyes.
Tall and slender, all high heels and corselet
Her life was a jamboree bag, full of surprises.
She treated me like her own red bus rover
Along for the ride, anywhere I could take her
Our journey was a rollercoaster of passion
Ups and downs, screams and sudden endings.
She melted my heart like snow in the sunshine
Then gone as though it was never there
I realised that like perfume bought on the market
Love isn’t always the real thing…

Apart from that simile in
Apart from that simile in the entry, J, that high prior heels, and a few shop worn cliches, you've a fine poem in the make here IMVHO.
But that being prudently pushed aside, and considering only your exit and title here, and with this in mind...
"I seem to know all the cliches, but not how to put them together in a believable way. Or else these stories are terrible and grandiose precisely because all the cliches intertwine in an unrealistic way and you can't disentangle them. But when you actually live a cliche, it feels brand new, and you are unashamed." ― Umberto Eco
...perhaps changing the finale to, 'Love isn't always a Coke, ' and the title to The Real Thing', would make it quiet spectacular?
Just thinking out loud..which I do quiet often when I like a piece.

Ahhh, fear not, J, Umberto
Ahhh, fear not, J, Umberto always comes to an authors/esses rescue:
“Two cliches make us laugh. A hundred cliches move us because we sense dimly that the cliches are talking among themselves while celebrating a reunion.”

Hi jolono,
firstly can I say I love the title of this piece.
it's quite frightening how especially when we're
young, we can think we're in love, but then discover
that it was a mistake. But as always it's life's
experience that teaches us real love, then we know when it comes along.
Loved the comparison of the lamb sandwich and love.
Thanks for sharing this. Sorry I know I got to it
a bit late.
Jenny.
