Not us, not us.

It happens to others but,

not us, not us,

It’s cold, damp, bleak

But we’re okay aren’t we?

safe inside, warm, cosy.

 

Heard the warnings,

watched the tele, but,

not us, not us.

Number forty seven

was unlucky that’s all,

But they’re lower, we’re higher

 

So, not us, not us.

It’ll stop soon, it will

We’ll be okay,

No need to panic

no need for fuss.

Not us, not us.

 

We’ll just go upstairs

Take a few things

precious things.

Photos, books, memories

No harm will come

Not us, not us.

 

There’s a crowd outside

People moving, fast,

hurried. A man in uniform

knocking at our door.

They’ve come, its happened.

Surely not. Not us?

Thanks Bee. Just seeing those terrible scenes of the floods really does make you think. So sad for those people affected by them. I live quite near the Thames and yet I still think "Not us, surely, not us."

Not us, with its connatations of the other, and they came for...yeh, for once, I'm not going to blame the Tories. We have been lucky so far in Scotland and that's unusual, but not us, not yet.
