CHANGING TIMES

When the air is fragranced with spring freshness,
And brown branches sprout new shiny green leaves,
When every breeze brings hope of new life,
And morning birdsong infiltrates the trees.
Springs of joy flow through the heart.
Tinkling ice cream bells herald the summer,
Tulips and lilies blaze across the parks,
The distinctive music of ball on bat..
Is echoed across many village greens.
Summer is blazing a trail.
A time of richness and in-gathering,
Of thanksgiving for the fruits of the land,
For rich, maturing colours of autumn,
As another harvest season evolves.
This is autumnal delight.
When winter winds bluster across the sky,
And snowflakes splatter on every street,
When dust bins wear bright crowns of icicles,
And Father Christmas hands out winter wear.
Its time to be of good cheer.
