I should have known
You wouldn't phone

I'd rather you hadn't said so
(Though it did make my day
All those weeks ago)
But now..
I don't know

Couldn't you just phone
To let me know
You won't be phoning after all?

Not that I'm sitting here waiting for your call!
Of course not!
I've got plenty to do
It's just that each time the phone rings
I hope that it's you

Really, I'm not demanding
I'm into being free
Easy-come-easy-go is my philosophy

But you could still phone
Just for a chat

And left it at that.
