angel feathers & leak spotters

angel feathers & leak spotters
single, white, and
diving, willingly
into a fall.
tufted revolutions from
broken clouds,
soft fluttered shower,
follows me, loud,
from the corner
of my cry.
i grit my teeth,
to still the tremble
in my hands,
waiting to catch
the hope of wings –
they miss.
lured onto rocks;
lost to muddied,
spring gutters.
others, watch for
my tears; the leak spotters –
wide-eyed
and all a-snigger,
whispered gangs
fearful of their
own lament.
i cannot remain private
any longer,
for my leaks are known:
this hazel gaze, cracked
and blurred, bloodshot
and morning-furred, and
racked with
moistured pearls.
i cry, openly,
because i have no
barriers left.
this life, without you,
an ocean
of senseless weeping;
as i drown, willingly;
bereft.

This is quite simply a very very good poem. It builds as each stanza is revealed and the use of the imagery and such a delicate touch on the word choice supports the depth of feeling so that it's pitched just perfectly.
Well done.
