with claws and beak

with claws and beak
traffic spoons itself onto concrete
before the mist has chance to warm up
trains make leaning angles
before animal snuffles
gather as morning language
the land dozes still
in echoed slumber;
knowing
suddenly all a-scatter
life unfurls
a parcel of crows
opens on the wing
a charm of finches
caught gold in the new sun
a stare of owls
concludes their lidded lookout
a mighty stretching
as the sky rears back
yawns wide
to encourage the morning aloft
